 | Since the advent of the web 2.0-style, soft, friendly, and rounded typefaces seem to be everywhere you look. Even brands that have little to do with the web or social networks are on board with what may be remembered as the definitive element of early 21st century design. At Linotype, we’ve been fans of rounded fonts for decades. In the 70s and 80s, our VAG Rounded™ and Helvetica® Rounded fonts made a big impact. In the last year, we also released the new Eurostile® Candy and DIN Next Rounded fonts. Now we’ve added 17 more rounded fonts onto our roster. They all come from classic Linotype families like Basic Commercial™, Memphis®, Neuzeit® Office, or Trade Gothic® Next. Best of all, we’ve bundled these 17 „Soft Rounded” fonts into a series of Value Packs. |

 | Every year, the European Design Conference takes place in different national capital. In May, the 2009 event took place in Zurich, Switzerland. The highlight of the gathering was the ED-Awards 2009 ceremony. During the ceremony, Adrian Frutiger was added to the European Design Hall of Fame.
Regular LinoLetter readers are certainly famililar with Adrian Frutiger’s body of work, and just about every designer is familiar with his typefaces. Last month, we announced the release of his most-recent typeface, Neue Frutiger®in our e-mail newsletter. – We’ve built an entire Micro-Site to illustrate Neue Frutiger’s intrinsicate details. Visit www.NeueFrutiger.com to learn all about Adrian Frutiger and Akira Kobayashi’s newest family! – This month, we expanded the Frutiger Arabic family; it now includes four condensed weights!
Why not refresh yourself with all of the fonts Adrian Frutiger has released in the past ten years:
– Avenir® Next (with Akira Kobayashi)
– Neue Frutiger (with Akira Kobayashi)
– Frutiger Serif (with Akira Kobayashi)
– Frutiger Next (with Akira Kobayashi)

 | Mr. Typo is a cartoon character that has stared in two Linotype books, A Line of Type (2006) as well as
Mr. Typo and the Lost Letters (2009). Both books were illustrated by the Italian Berlin-based type and graphic designer Alessio Leonardi. Because of Mr. Typo’s devoted fan base, we’ve created a website just for him, where you can flip through Alessio’s illustrations. |

 | This summer, two Linotype typefaces were nominated by the German Federal Ministry of Economic and Technology for the 2010 German Design Prize. The German Design Prize is the only governmental recognition for design works created in that country, and designers and companies cannot submit their work for nomination themselves. Instead, they must have already received awards in another national or international competition. Linotype typefaces often receive awards from the Type Directors Club or the European Design contest. We have refreshed our Awards page at Linotype.com so that you can sort through all of our prize-winners more easily. |
